FAQ

Answers to what members and agents ask most

Membership

Joining, plans, and benefits

The questions that come up most often before someone registers.

Who can join FSP4ED?

Any Zimbabwean resident aged 18 to 65 can register as a principal member (65 to 80 under the Senior Citizen Plan). Registration happens through a local agent, so you never need to travel to a national office to join.

What happens if I miss a monthly contribution?

Your policy moves into a grace period rather than lapsing immediately. You can settle the missed contribution within the grace window and benefits continue uninterrupted. If the grace period passes unpaid, the policy lapses and can be reinstated under the plan's reinstatement rules.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan later?

Yes. Policy changes — upgrading to a higher service tier, adding the Family Plan after starting on Individual, or downgrading — are reviewed and approved centrally, and take effect from the next contribution cycle.

How is my premium calculated?

Premiums are set per plan by National Admin based on the service package, the number of lives covered, and the age band at joining. Your agent will confirm the current rate for your exact household before you sign up, since rates are reviewed periodically.

Where does my monthly contribution actually go?

Every contribution funds three things at once: the national benefit pool that supports verified funeral services, the commission that supports your local agent and their district and provincial coordinators, and the operating costs of running a scheme this size responsibly. See our Economic Impact page for the full picture.

Is my information safe?

Your national ID, next of kin, and beneficiary details are stored in a secured member record, and documents you upload are held in a permission-gated archive that only staff with a legitimate need — such as processing your specific claim — can open.

Plans

Choosing and combining plans

How the six plans relate to each other, and what registration actually asks of you.

Can one household hold more than one plan?

Yes. A Child Dependant Plan, for example, is designed to run alongside an existing Individual, Family, or Group policy rather than replace it.

Do I need a medical exam to join?

No standard plan requires a medical exam — only a health declaration at registration. The Senior Citizen Plan uses a longer waiting period for natural-cause claims instead of medical underwriting.

What counts as an accidental death for the waiting-period waiver?

Death arising from an accident rather than illness — your agent can confirm exactly how this is documented for a claim, since it affects which waiting-period rule applies.

For agents

Commission and area coverage

How earnings accrue, and how far an agent's area extends.

How is agent commission released?

Commission accrues automatically the moment a contribution is recorded, and is released on a regular commission cycle once approved — never withheld pending a claim being filed.

Can an agent register members outside their own ward?

Agents are scoped to the area they're registered for. Coordinators oversee multiple wards or districts, which is the route to working across a wider area.
